Remote High Country Loop

Embark on an adventurous journey along a remote high country road traversing the Dunstan Mountains, leading you via Bendigo to explore captivating historic gold fields. This full loop trip, spanning approximately 140 kilometres, can commence from either Alexandra or Clyde.

We’ll navigate through the scenic Cromwell Gorge to reach Bendigo, ascend over the saddle at 900 meters, and return via Omakau. You may wish to consider stopping at the Chatto Creek Tavern, established in 1886, where you can savour refreshments and bring a perfect end to your day of exploration.
